Chapati bread is also known as roti, sabati, shabaati, phulka, chabo, poli and roshi. Chapati is an unleavened indian flat bread made with just three ingredients of wheat flour, ghee or oil and water, salt is optional. The word chapati was derived from the Hindi word ”chapat” meaning ”flat” or ”slap” which describes the traditional method of shaping chapati by slapping the dough in between the palms. Chapati is also consumed in East African countries like Moazambique, Kenya and Uganga.
Ingredients
- 2 cups of wheat flour
- oil
- 1 tsp of salt
- water
Procedure
- mix everything into a soft dough and allow to rest for 10minutes. Then roll into 5” chapattis and fry in an non stick for 2 minutes per side. Serve with any soup of choice.
