Banbara efan is a popular and beloved delicacy among the Nupe indigenous society. There are two types; banbara efan and banbara edzu. Banbara efan is similar to a fried starchy pudding and also similar to wainar fulawa. It is a common go-to breakfast recipe in Nupe households.

All ingredients to taste
- Starch powder(from banbara beans or soya beans called ‘efan’ )
- water
- salt
- red pepper
- chopped onion
- chopped spring onions
- seasoning cubes
- vegetable oil
Procedure
To make this special banbara efan local delicacy, follow the simple steps below:
- Soak the starch powder with water and sieve to remove impurities. Let it settle for about 30mins, then pour out the excess water.
- Mix the settled starch with grated pepper, chopped onions, seasoning cubes, and salt. Add a little more water if the mixture is too thick.
- Heat a little oil in a frying pan(preferably a non-stick pan) or use a traditional masa fryer. Pour a portion of the mixture and fry it like an egg or masa.
- Serve the banbara hot, often with yaji and pap(kunun tsamiya, koko or kunun gyada).
